Subject Line Madness

Is anyone else sick of how the email marketing world has un-evolved? It seems like just about every marketer out there now is sending emails with subject lines that only spammers used to use. Subjects like, “password reset info”, and “account number requested”, or “your download link”.

And of course all they are, is another promotional offer with some links to affiliate pages inside. It’s actually quite pathetic, and I just delete all of these messages without even opening them. I just wonder, do they realize just how many of their mails are getting deleted and ignored? I also wonder how many people are still falling for the deceiving subject lines?

I guess I still believe in the old ways, where you, as a marketer, provide some good quality info, training, products etc. for free to your readers, something of value, and maybe recommend something every now and then. No spammy emails with spammy subject lines. I wonder if the honest internet marketer is a dieing breed…

New Facebook Photoshop Scam

Apparently, there is a new Facebook scam, that everyone should be aware of. Actually, it currently doesn’t seem to cause any actual damage, although if the application is installed on enough user accounts, the developers of said application could cause some serious issues. It’s reported that this app pops up with a chat message from one of your contacts, that says “I just created a photoshop image of you, check it out. :p”. The link then redirects you to a page where you are prompted to install an application, and are redirected to a basic page with some photos, while the app installs. It’s reported that this application is getting somewhere around 90,000 clicks per hour right now! I have played many, many games in my lifespan, and many flight simulator games included. Although I cannot play them constantly, as I need to switch things up because of what I may refer to as ADD or ADHD, I still enjoy playing a good flight sim every now and then. It has been quite a while since I played a good one, maybe a year or so, but just recently I found an excellent game, and thought I should mention it here, so that others may partake in the flight simulator goodness.Pro Flight Simulator.This flight simulator game has it all, and is by far the most realistic flight sim I have ever played in my life as a gamer. A 747, fly a military style combat jet, it has a helicopter simulator with several models to choose from, and even older historical type planes. With the Holidays being one of the, if not THE busiest times for online marketers, its time to get all your sites updated, re-vamped, and ready for the influx of traffic that this time of year brings.

My post today deals with doing what we do to make money, what we do for a hobby, and what we do because we absolutely love it.

But…..One of my main reasons for writing today, is to explain that no matter what, we have to understand our position in life, where we want to be, and what we are willing to do to get to that point.

One of the BIG things that everyone should understand, is that, “If You’re Happy Where You’re At, Keep Doing What You’re Doing”. If you really want change, then you need to change something. The definition of crazy is someone who keeps doing the same thing everyday, but expects different results.

If we want different results in our life, we need to step outside of our current situation, even if it means being uncomfortable. If we dont step outside of our comfort zone, and learn something new, we will always be exactly what we are. And that’s not who I wanna be…..

AdMarketPlace Keywords Review

For anyone that has considered or is considered buying traffic from AdMarketPlace Keywords or www.ampkeywords.com, please read the lines that follow, for it will save your time and money.

After trying traffic arbitrage about a year ago, and having some success, I decided to do a little research, and see if it is still a viable method to earn online. Basically, I just randomly picked a PPC company, well, of course I did a little research on the company online before I created an account. This company is AdMarketPlace Keywords or www.ampkeywords.com. I deposited the minimum (I think) of $25 to test, and they match your first $25 deposit with another $25.

I set up a campaign targetting my own site set up with some decent content, and optimized for AdSense ads. I have used this same site in the past with a decent conversion rate, so I know that it should have converted to some degree. The keywords I picked in my campaign were completely relative, and the ad was as well. What followed was, to say the least, disapointing.

Total hits were between 150 and 165. Total clicks on any AdSense ads = 0. Average time on site = 1-3 seconds. Bounce rate = 91-97%. Now I know that this may not be the best of sites, but being that it converted to some degree before, probably between 3-10%, a 0% is a big red flag that something is wrong. It gets worse.

I set up a second campaign to test out the traffic on one of my sites that does a review on a ClickBank affiliate product. My own domain, unique content, screenshots etc.. Total traffic from this PPC provider was around 100 uniques. Average time on site? 2 seconds. Thats not even enough time to read the title. Bounce rate? 91%. When I check the site overlay through Google Analytics, not one click on any of the links throughout the page, even on the links on the top of the page.

In case you haven’t heard, tomorrow Google Wealth Maker is released to the public.
